Morgan Benfield was introduced to the sport of professional drag racing at the age of three. At age seven Morgan became inspired to drive her own junior dragster after watching the Disney movie, Right on Track.

This movie is about the Ender sisters and how they were the first known junior dragster racers to obtain corporate  sponsorship. Erica Enders graduated through the ranks of the sport to become a highly competitive pro stock driver in the NHRA.

Morgan created her own plan to become a junior dragster driver and presented it to her parents. She proposed to buy a new Motivational Tubing race car and start a team which would support her desire to drive. If her efforts were not successful, then Morgan was prepared to sell her car and work off the difference.

Upon purchasing her car in 2004 from Motivational Tubing (the same manufacturer featured in the movie) Morgan began her venture by attending a junior drag racing school in Maryland. After several months of gaining experience, she won her first nationally recognized event. It was the IHRA PM-1 Junior Dragster Nationals at Maryland International Raceway in Budds Creek, Maryland. There, she won her first IHRA Iron Man trophy. Morgan returned to the same event the next year determined to be a two time champion. With near perfect lights she won all five rounds of eliminations winning her second IHRA Iron Man trophy. In the same year Morgan traveled in the 2005 Mychron Series racing against competitors in eight different states. She marched on to become the index and age bracket Champion of that series.

Morgan’s motivation comes from her parents requiring her to maintain honor roll status at school. This allows her to travel on the weekends.

As of 2009, Morgan has posed an impressive record of five national championships, two divisional championships, over seventy-five first place finishes, and twenty-one runner up finishes. Her display case proudly has one National Guard ADRL Minute Man trophy, seven IHRA Iron Man trophies, two NHRA Wally trophies, and countless other awards pertaining to the sport.

On and off the track, Morgan encourages all kids to do their best in school and to never give up on their dreams.
